And still she moves

Why did my body and its movement arouse shame while that of my mind inspire respect? I used the intellect as a fortress of the self over the body because the body wouldn’t titillate as the tits age. My assumptions were the intellect itself is impervious to the changing seasons and that there is a need for a fortress to defend a self . I wasn’t liberated but just imprisoned by a different gaze. Why did I think my drawing liberated me from the mind body binary? So far I have only used my hands and tools like pencils, pens, brushes to make marks , leave traces on paper or have I made drawings in other ways I havent paid attention to? My body moves even when I am not directing it: my the peristalsis of my bowels, the expansion of my alveoli, the elastic recoil of my lungs, the spiking of my neurons, the relaxation of my sphincters, the tear in the collagen fibres of my skin and the traces they leave-even the healing of wounds requires the migration of keratinocytes. So much that I don’t pay attention to. And still she moves. My body is a canvas and in this assignment I explored how I could convey its many movements, but I decided to use more than my fingers and paper to do that.
